Buyer Fit

Which License Should You Choose?

Pick by workflow, not just by domain count. The plugin code gates the advanced automation and developer features by tier.

Standard

Best for one site that needs live listings, manual imports, styling, caching, affiliate links, virtual detail pages, and up to 3 page assignments.

Recommended for: niche city/event blogs, small publishers, first Ticketmaster affiliate sites.

Business

Best once the site becomes operational: unlimited page assignments, scheduled imports, saved search rules, CSV export, and team notifications.

Recommended for: multi-city directories, affiliate publishers, content teams, local media.

Developer

Best for client work and integrations: REST API, API keys, response cache, rate limiting, webhooks, template overrides, and multisite setup.

Recommended for: agencies, headless apps, Flutter/React Native builds, automation-heavy sites.
Use Cases

Built For Ticketmaster-Powered Event Sites

PI Event Master is designed for WordPress sites that need live Ticketmaster API listings, imported SEO event posts, affiliate-ready ticket links, and local event directory pages.

For Ticketmaster API Key Holders

Connect your API key, choose city/category filters, and publish live Ticketmaster event listings or imported WordPress event posts without building a custom application.

For Local Event Sites

Use inexpensive WordPress hosting to launch city guides, concert directories, sports event pages, theatre listings, tourism pages, or niche affiliate event sites.

For Publishers & Agencies

Build city guides, niche event portals, client sites, or headless event apps with imported WordPress posts and Developer REST API access.

Build Search-Friendly Ticketmaster Event Content

PI Event Master helps publishers turn Ticketmaster event data into useful WordPress content for organic search. Create live Ticketmaster event listings for fresh discovery, or import selected concerts, sports fixtures, theatre shows, and family events as editable WordPress posts with stable permalinks. Those posts can support city event guides, venue pages, category archives, internal links, and long-tail searches such as “concerts in Chicago,” “sports events in New York,” or “theatre tickets near me.”

Event JSON-LD, event dates, venue details, location information, images, and ticket URLs give search engines clearer context about each listing. Virtual detail pages can provide crawlable URLs for live events, while Auto-import on First View can preserve selected events as WordPress posts. Rankings and rich results are never guaranteed, but the plugin supplies the technical event-publishing foundation needed for a focused Ticketmaster events SEO strategy.

Common WordPress Event Publishing Needs

Useful for teams searching for a WordPress Ticketmaster event importer, live Ticketmaster events shortcode, local events directory plugin, Ticketmaster affiliate WordPress site, or headless event API for WordPress.

Ticketmaster API WordPress plugin WordPress Ticketmaster event importer live Ticketmaster events shortcode local events directory plugin Ticketmaster affiliate WordPress site headless event API for WordPress

What It Is

A Ticketmaster event importer and publishing engine for WordPress.

What It Is Not

It is not a generic manual calendar plugin and it does not replace Ticketmaster checkout. It sends users to affiliate-ready Ticketmaster ticket links.

Tab 1 — License Key

Activate your purchased licence to unlock tier-specific features and enable automatic plugin updates from the PI Media licence server.

🔐 Activation

License Key
XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX
Enter your key from the purchase confirmation email. Validated against the PI Media licence server on activation.
Activate Button AJAX call — no page reload. Validates the key with the PI Media licence server, binds it to the current domain, and immediately stores the tier (single / business / developer) from the server's product_ref. The tier badge and gated settings update instantly on success. On server error the plugin falls back to the locally cached tier.
Licence Status Two inline status boxes toggle via jQuery: ● License Active (green) shown when active, License Not Active (amber) shown otherwise. Displays the activation message and appropriate action button.
Deactivate AJAX deactivation — contacts the licence server, then always clears the local activation marker and cached tier regardless of server response. This prevents a stale local state from keeping paid features unlocked after a valid deactivation. The tier transient is also deleted so it refreshes on next load.

🔄 Updates & Tier Display

Automatic Updates A valid active licence enables update notifications in Dashboard → Updates. Updates are delivered via the WordPress standard update mechanism.
Update Period 1 year of updates included. Plugin continues to work after expiry — only new version updates stop. Renew at a discounted rate to continue receiving updates.
Tier Badge The admin header shows a colour-coded badge: Standard Business Developer indicating which features are unlocked.
Gated Settings Business-only and Developer-only tabs show a padlock notice and upgrade link when a lower-tier licence is active. Settings can be saved but won't take effect until the correct licence is applied.

② Imported Fields — What Data is Stored and Displayed

Imported events become real WordPress posts. All event data is stored as post meta with the piwpt_ prefix (e.g. piwpt_city, piwpt_datetime). The TM Event ID (piwpt_tm_id) is always stored for duplicate detection.
Section A — ACF Field Mapping (Optional)

If you use Advanced Custom Fields, map your existing ACF fields to TM event data so both your ACF fields and the plugin's own meta fields are populated on each import. Skip if you don't use ACF.

Sync ACF Fields on Import Enable ACF sync — when checked, mapped ACF fields are updated on each import.
ACF Field Group
Select Group…
Choose the ACF group then map each field below. Mappable fields: Date & Time, Venue Address, City, State, Postal Code, Ticket URL, Seat Map URL.
Section B — Plugin-Managed Meta Fields (No ACF Required)

Tick each field you want stored on import. Stored as piwpt_FIELD post meta. Sample values from the live API are shown when a valid Consumer Key is entered.

⑥ Display on Pages — Imported Events (No Shortcode Needed) 👁 Live Preview

👁
Live Preview Panel

The Display on Pages form now opens in a 50/50 split panel. The left side has all your configuration fields. The right side shows a live preview of the event cards — styled exactly as they will appear on your site — before you save anything. Change filters, switch layout, adjust city: the preview updates immediately.

Tab 4 — Live Events

Control how Ticketmaster API events are displayed. Live listings are not stored as WordPress posts; when caching is enabled, repeat requests can be served from WordPress transients until the configured expiry.

① Live Events Settings ② Live Event Fields ③ Display on Pages ④ Display Styles

① Live Events Settings — Virtual Pages, Defaults & SEO

Live events exist only while active on Ticketmaster. Once an event expires, its virtual URL returns a 404 — which search engines penalise. The recommended fix is Auto-import on First View (below), which permanently saves the event post the first time any visitor — including a search engine bot — loads the URL.
Virtual Single Event Pages
Enable Virtual Detail Pages Enable virtual single-event pages for live events
Creates dynamic URLs: /ticketmaster-event/EVENT-ID/. Rewrite rules flushed automatically on toggle.
Auto-import on First View (recommended) Permanently save the event as a WordPress post on first visit
The first time anyone visits a virtual event URL, the event is silently imported using your Import Settings (post type, status, fields, featured image, categories). The URL then permanently resolves to the real WP post — even after the event expires on Ticketmaster. Respects Event Expiry and Noindex settings.
Noindex Virtual Pages Add noindex, nofollow to virtual event pages
Use when you want virtual pages for human visitors but not search engine indexing of short-lived URLs. Has no effect once Auto-import converts a page to a permanent post.

The Live Events tab now has its own Display on Pages form with the same 50/50 split-panel live preview introduced for Imported events. Display Styles — Visual Customisation

Display Styles sub-tabs appear inside both the Import Events tab (for imported events) and the Live Events tab (for live API events). The controls are identical — only the saved option differs (piwpt_style_imported vs piwpt_style_live).

⏰ Auto-Import Scheduler

Enable Auto-Import Run auto-import on schedule
Activates a WordPress cron job that runs your saved Search Rules automatically. Only new events (not matching any existing piwpt_tm_id) are imported — no duplicates.
Frequency
Every Hour / Twice Daily / Daily / Weekly
How often the cron runs the saved rules. Daily is recommended for most sites.
Last Run2026-07-14 03:00 AM — 12 event(s) imported.
Shown after the first successful auto-import run.

📋 Auto-Import Search Rules

Add multiple independent search rules. Each rule defines a Ticketmaster query that runs on every cron cycle. Rules are stored as a WordPress option and shown in a table below the Add Rule form.

Comma-separated list. All addresses receive the import notification including: event count, event titles, session ID, import time.

📊 CSV Export

Download Events CSV

AccessNonce-protected — only admins can trigger the download. Works for any volume of imported events.
Use casesSite backup, migration to another WordPress install, or analysis in Excel / Google Sheets.
REST API
⚙️

Tab 7 — Advanced → Developer Settings Developer Licence Only

Includes all Business features plus REST API endpoints, authentication, response caching, rate limiting, import webhooks, template overrides, and Multisite. Settings show a padlock notice if a lower-tier licence is active.

🔵 Developer licence includes every Business feature. All settings in the Business Settings tab — Auto-Import Scheduler, Search Rules, multiple email recipients, and CSV Export — are fully available on the Developer licence. The settings below are additional Developer-only capabilities.

🌐 REST API Endpoints

The PI Event Master Developer REST API exposes imported events as JSON. Useful for Flutter apps, React / Next.js frontends, Zapier, or any headless WordPress setup. Calendar downloads are available separately through the iCal route.
GET — Events List
/wp-json/pi-event-master/v1/events
Params: per_page · page · city · postalcode · category · tag · keyword · after (YYYY-MM-DD) · api_key
GET — Single Event
/wp-json/pi-event-master/v1/events/{id}
Returns full event data: post content, all piwpt_* meta fields, affiliate ticket URL.
GET — iCal Download
/wp-json/pi-event-master/v1/ical/{id}
Returns a downloadable .ics calendar file for an imported event post. This supports the Add-to-Calendar feature.
Endpoint Availability Registered automatically when a valid Developer licence is active
Lower tiers see the Developer tab but the REST event routes are not registered until the licence gate passes.
Data SourceImported WordPress event posts
The API serves saved event posts and their piwpt_* meta fields, including affiliate-ready ticket URLs.

🔐 API Authentication

Require API Key Reject requests without a valid API key
All REST endpoints require the key as Authorization: Bearer YOUR_KEY header or ?api_key=YOUR_KEY query parameter. Unauthorised requests receive HTTP 401.
API Key
One-click generates a 40-character random key prefixed piem_. Regenerate at any time — instantly invalidates the old key. Keep this secret; share only with authorised apps.

⚡ REST API Response Caching

Enable Caching Cache REST API list and single event responses
Each unique query (filters + pagination) gets its own WordPress transient cache entry. Responses include X-Cache: HIT or MISS header. Auto-invalidated when an event post is updated or deleted.
Cache TTL
1 min / 5 min / 10 min / 30 min / 1 hr / 2 hr / 24 hr
Shorter = fresher data, more DB load. Longer = faster responses. Bypass with ?piwpt_nocache=1 (admin only).
Flush API Cache

🚦 Rate Limiting

Protect the API from abuse and runaway clients. Limits tracked per IP address (or per API key when authentication is enabled).

Enable Rate Limiting Limit requests per time window
Clients exceeding the limit receive HTTP 429 Too Many Requests with a Retry-After header.
Request Limit
60
Max requests per client per window. Default: 60.
Window
60s / 5 min / 10 min / 1 hour
Time window for the request limit counter.
Response Headers (every API call)
X-RateLimit-Limit: 60
X-RateLimit-Remaining: 47
X-RateLimit-Reset: 1720000000
X-Cache: HIT
Retry-After: 42  (429 responses only)

🔗 Import Webhook

Webhook URL
https://hooks.zapier.com/hooks/catch/…
POST payload sent after every import (manual or auto). Leave blank to disable — no performance impact.
Payload Fieldsevent · session_id · post_ids[] · tm_ids[] · count · time · site_url
Test Webhook
Sends a sample payload to the saved URL immediately.
IntegrationsZapier, Make (Integromat), n8n, or any custom HTTP endpoint.

🗂 Theme Template Overrides

Override Directory/your-theme/pi-event-master/
Available Templatesevent-card.php — grid/list/masonry card
event-detail.php — virtual live event detail page
StatusAdmin shows ✓ Override active when a theme file is detected, otherwise "Using plugin default".
Enable Allow theme files in /pi-event-master/ to override plugin templates

🌐 WordPress Multisite

Network ActivateActivate PI Event Master network-wide from Network Admin → Plugins.
Per-Site SettingsEach sub-site gets its own independent plugin settings, import data, and licence check.
New SitesSites created after network activation are automatically configured.
📱
Flutter / React Native App
Use the REST API + API key + rate limiting to power a mobile events app securely.
Headless WordPress
Feed event data to Next.js or Nuxt. Response caching ensures fast API calls at high traffic.
🔗
Zapier / Make Automation
Fire webhook on every import — push new events to Google Sheets, Slack, Airtable, or a CRM.

Tab 6 — Caching

Dramatically reduce Ticketmaster API calls and page load times with configurable transient caching for both live API events and imported event listings.

🌐 Live API Events Cache

Enable Caching Cache live Ticketmaster API results
Recommended. Each unique set of shortcode/widget parameters gets its own cache entry. Reduces API calls and page load time significantly.
Cache Expiry
5 min / 15 min / 30 min / 1 hr / 2 hr / 6 hr / 12 hr / 24 hr
How long to keep each cached API result before re-fetching. Recommended: 1 hour.

🗄 Imported Events Cache

Enable Caching Cache imported events listing output (HTML)
Caches the rendered HTML of imported event listings. Clear after publishing or editing events to see the latest content.
Cache Expiry
5 min / 15 min / 30 min / 1 hr / 2 hr / 6 hr / 12 hr / 24 hr
How long to keep each cached imported listing before regenerating.

🗑 Manage Cached Transients

Active TransientsLive count of active piwpt_ prefixed transients currently stored in the WordPress options table.
Transient TableEach row shows: transient key, expiry countdown ("3 hours remaining" or "Expired"), and a Delete button. Deletes are AJAX-powered — no page reload.
Flush Live Cache Clears only live API transients.
Flush Imported Cache Clears only imported listing transients.
Flush All Clears every piwpt_ transient instantly. Individual and bulk flush buttons are disabled when count is 0.
Admin-only cache bypass: add ?piwpt_nocache=1 to any page URL to see fresh API data without clearing the whole cache. Useful for checking new events immediately after an import.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Common Questions Answered

Everything you need to know before buying PI Event Master.

Do I need a Ticketmaster API key?

Yes — a free Ticketmaster developer account gives you an API key. You can sign in or create an account here: Ticketmaster Developer Account. The free tier has generous rate limits suitable for most event sites.

What's the difference between live and imported events?

Live events come from the Ticketmaster API and are not stored as WordPress posts, although API responses can be held temporarily in the configured transient cache. Imported events are saved as editable WordPress posts for longer-term publishing and SEO use.

Will imported events show a 404 after they expire?

Imported events are saved as WordPress posts, so their URLs remain available unless you manually remove them or enable the optional expiry action that moves past events to Draft or Trash. For live virtual pages, Auto-import on First View saves the event as a post when the virtual page is first visited.

Can I use the plugin with custom post types?

Yes. The Import Settings tab lets you choose any public post type — Posts, Pages, or your own custom types — as the target for imported events.

How does the affiliate ID work?

Enter your Ticketmaster Affiliate ID in API Settings and plugin-generated ticket URLs append an aff parameter. Confirm that this parameter format matches the tracking instructions supplied by your Ticketmaster affiliate programme.

Can I roll back a bulk import I made by mistake?

Yes. Every bulk import is logged as a session with a timestamp and the post IDs created. The Import History tab lets you roll back any session, permanently deleting all posts created in that run.

Does it work with page builders like Elementor?

Yes. The [tm_events] shortcode works in any page builder that supports WordPress shortcodes, including Elementor, Divi, WPBakery, and the Gutenberg block editor.

What happens after my 1-year support period ends?

The plugin continues working indefinitely. You lose access to new version updates and priority support. You can renew your license for another year at a discounted rate to continue receiving updates.

Is there a limit to how many events I can import?

No — there's no hard limit imposed by the plugin. The practical limit is your Ticketmaster API rate limit and your server resources. The caching system minimises API load.

Does it support Google rich results for events?

The plugin automatically outputs Schema.org Event JSON-LD for its event listings and imported event pages, including available date, venue, location, image, and ticket information. This can make a page eligible for event search features, but Google decides whether any page receives a rich result.

Which features are limited on the Standard license?

Standard includes the core Ticketmaster API, import, shortcode, widget, styling, caching, affiliate, iCal, JSON-LD, and virtual page features. The practical limits are 1 licensed domain, 3 total Display on Pages assignments, and one import notification email address.

When should I upgrade to Business or Developer?

Choose Business when you need scheduled auto-imports, saved search rules, unlimited page assignments, CSV export, or team notifications. Choose Developer for REST API access, API keys, rate limiting, webhooks, template overrides, multisite, and client deployments.
